SDL Trados Studio 2011 is here and I have to say that at Babel DGT we love it. So, for all our clients in Mexico who upgraded, we have put together this quick tutorial to help you upgrade.

Step 1: Log into your account on SDL's website (if you don't remember the url just clic here)
You'll see this screen, log in with your registered mail and password. Should you not remember it just click forgotten password

Step 2: Clic on My Licenses link

Step 3: You will see your current license
DON'T forget to deactivate your old license in any computer using it. If you don't remember how to do it click here.
Notice the upgrade link on the right side of your screen, and click there.

Step 4: The system will tell you how many upgrades you can process, click on the Proces Upgrade button.

Step 5: If successful you will be presented with your new license.

Step 6: Every time you need to see you license number please click on My licenses on the left side of your screen. Then you will see your license on the right, you can click on the license for details

SDL Trados Studio crashes as soon as you open it

Sometimes you might encounter with you Studio crashing as soon as you open it. Well, no problem many a time it is just that the program crashed,  your computer forced it to shutdown or there was a power outage and you did not have the time to close it. Then the xml file containing the list of projects gets corrupted and all you have to do it erase it to force Studio to generate a new one. Here are the instructions:
Go to you documents folder

Clic on your Studio 2011 folder

Locate the projects folder and delete the Projects.xml file

Now, when you open your Studio you won't see any projects, but fear not! They are just not listed as you erased the corrupted list, all you need to do is get into the folder of each project you want back on the list and clic on the project file and double-click the file that looks like a file cabinet (see picture), this will add the project back to your Studio Projects.

SDL Trados Studio does not indicate the differences between the source segment text in the document and the source segment match in the translation memory

We have been getting a lot of mails regarding this, which is just a very small config detail. SDL Trados Studio does not indicate the differences between the source segment text in the document and the source segment match in the translation memory for the fuzzy matches found. Solution is simple
This occurs when your translation memory list contains both file-based translation memories and non-translation memory providers, and a non-translation memory provider is being used before the translation memories.
